Mortgage tax revenue up, especially in cities

It appears home sales are not slowing down in Chautauqua County. During the county legislature meeting, lawmakers approved $860,447 be sent to various towns, villages and cities which was collected from the county’s 1.25% mortgage tax. The tax is collected on any new or refinanced mortgage. UCAN to host fundraising gala Saturday

With a lot of work ongoing for UCAN City Mission, specifically on their women with children’s shelter, UCAN is set to host a gala on the first Saturday in June for both fundraising and awareness. Executive Director Bruce Baehr said that the UCAN board decided to host a gala as it has been a while since they have done a large fundraising or awareness event for the mission.
