A structure fire at 5:06 a.m. Tuesday destroyed a mobile home in the High Acres Mobile Home Park in Ellery. The Fluvanna Fire Department along with several neighboring mutual aid fire departments responded to the scene. Upon extinguishing the fire, the Fluvanna Fire Department requested the assistance of the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team to conduct an origin and cause investigation. As a result of the residence being unoccupied for an extended period of time along with the extensive damage to the structure, no immediate cause was able to be determined.
A Jamestown man is headed to prison for sharing child pornography through social media. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Brandon G. Uber, 24, who was convicted of distribution of child pornography, was sentenced to serve 17 ½ years in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Jamestown Police officers are actively investigating a shooting that occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. According to police, one male (no age given) was shot near the vicinity of Hopkins Avenue and Second Street. Currently, he is being treated for wounds sustained during the incident.
