Two Charged After Child Puts Used Razor In Mouth, Home Found Unlivable

Two city residents face charges after a child put a used shaving razor in her mouth, with the home then found to be unlivable.

At 12:40 a.m. today, city police officers responded to an east side home to assist Jamestown firefighters with a child bleeding from the mouth. While on the scene, officers determined that the young child grabbed a used shaving razor out of an uncovered kitchen garbage can and then put the razor in her mouth, which caused a minor laceration. Officers investigated the living conditions of the home as there were two young children who lived there and observed the kitchen to have little food and an abundance of cock roaches inside of the entire residence.

Officers observed a single mattress on the floor of the children’s sleeping area without sheets or bedding that was stained from feces and urine. Officers also observed human feces on the floor of the bedroom and on the wall.

Angel A. Baez, 35, and Kieshla M. Nieves, 29, both of Jamestown, were each charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree reckless endangerment. Child Protective Services was contacted and made aware of the incident. A relative took the children for the evening.

Baez and Nieves were taken to the city jail until they could be arraigned.
