Panama Board Warns Residents Of Recent Thefts

PANAMA — The Panama Village Board is asking residents to do their parts in helping to clamp down on recent thefts from vehicles and a break-in attempt.

A message was posted Tuesday morning to the village of Panama Facebook page. It read:

“Due to an increase in break-ins and thefts in our local area, the Village Board would like to advise residents to ensure all doors and vehicles are kept locked. We also encourage you to call and report any unusual activity to the Sheriff’s department at (716) 753-4232.”

“This is in regard to an attempted home break-in several weeks back and some minor vehicle thefts. Just a reminder to be cautious, especially as the weather continues to improve. Keys shouldn’t be left in cars, equipment shouldn’t be left out, etc.”

In December, the village mayor noted that several houses had their Christmas lights cut and other decor vandalized

“For village residents, it’s been upsetting because we’ve been working hard over the last several years to build this Christmas community spirit,” Mayor Bill Schneider said at the time.
