(9AM) Chance Of Severe Storms, High Winds Today

Rain and thunderstorms — at times possibly severe — are expected to move into the region today, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said.

Rain and some storms will fall in much of Western New York today and this evening. According to the weather service, the wet weather is moving ahead of a cold front coming into the area.

There is a threat of heavy rainfall today and this evening with the potential for localized flooding.

“Any thunderstorms this afternoon and evening may reach severe limits, with the region outlined in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms,” the weather service said this morning. “The primary threat will be damaging winds. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.”

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-70s today in the Jamestown area. Wednesday’s high is expected to be in the upper-60s, the weather service said.
