A New York Post article published Monday revealed a Congressional candidate’s brother-in-law with a troubled past was part of a campaign plunge that took place after Christmas. The Post reported Aaron Gies, who’s running as a Democrat against incumbent Nick Langworthy for District 23, was assisted by Christopher Nathan White. Lakeshore Humane Society to host yard sale fundraiser

DUNKIRK - The Lakeshore Humane Society's 22nd annual giant yard sale will be held Friday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., a day of early bird shopping, with a $3 entrance fee; Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Floral Hall at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, 1089 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The WNY Forward Fund, a group of local funders who joined together to support the Western New York community and the local nonprofit sector, is accepting grants through July 24 at 4 p.m. has announced its second round of grant opportunities for the exploration of strategic realignment and nonprofit resiliency in the WNY area. Grant awards, intended to spur reimagining of service delivery and innovation within the nonprofit sector, will be between $2,500 and $25,000 and will be awarded in early fall.
