Jamestown Community College students Maysa Bayramova, Chloe Hirt and Elin Scalise were chosen for the Phi Theta Kappa 2024 All-State Academic Team at the State University of New York’s Chancellor’s Awards.

Phi Theta Kappa is a national honor society for two-year colleges. Students must achieve at least a 3.5 grade-point average to be inducted. The academic team is chosen based on a student’s academic achievements during their time in college.

Bayramova graduated from the Jamestown Campus this spring with an associate’s degree in Business Administration. An international student from Turkmenistan, Bayramova intends to transfer to Florida International University to study finance and ultimately become a business owner.

Hirt graduated from the Cattaraugus County Campus this spring with an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. The Olean native plans to transfer to SUNY Geneseo and pursue a career in elementary education.

Scalise graduated with an associate’s degree in Addictions Counseling, along with Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor credentialing. The Sheffield, Pennsylvania native plans on pursuing a career in which she can support individuals who suffer with drug and substance abuse addiction.

“I want to be a part of the change and help bring awareness to reduce the stigma,” Scalise said.

The college recently inducted 48 students into the Jamestown Campus Alpha Kappa Beta chapter, and 15 into the Cattaraugus County Campus Alpha Psi Omega chapter. Danelle Turney, a JCC graduate and 2013 Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society All-New York Academic Team recipient spoke during the ceremony that was attended by the inductee’s friends and family members.
