A reading celebration at Harvey C. Fenner Elementary School in Falconer capped off the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge. Fifty students in grades 3-6, who completed a minimum of 15 minutes of reading on at least 50 separate days throughout the summer, were recognized and rewarded. These “Summer Reading Champions” donned their hard-earned gold medals as they made a grand entrance into the first assembly of the school year. Meeting the reading challenge earned them several rewards in addition to chances to win special prize giveaways and extra time outdoors to participate in some wacky relay races. School officials note they are very proud of each one of the summer readers and hope to see even more students complete next summer’s challenge.
