CLCS Names Students Of The Month

Students of the Month at Chautauqua Lake Central School honored for April achievements are Mallory Morrison, Taylor Donato, Lincoln Smith, Molly Ulsh, Emily Rankin, and Lane Scarpine.

Senior Mallory Morrison is the daughter of Denver and Sarah Morrison of Mayville. Mallory has been playing volleyball since eighth grade, competing on the varsity team for three years and helping win the sectional title two years in a row; she has also competed on the school’s softball teams since seventh grade. As a junior, she was inducted into the National Honor Society. Outside of school, Mallory enjoys horseback riding and hunting. Mallory intends to attend Jamestown Community College in the fall.

Taylor Donato, a junior, is the daughter of Jason and Lee Donato of Dewittville. Taylor has competed on the school’s soccer and basketball teams since seventh grade. She also competed on the volleyball team as a sophomore and the track team this year. Inducted into the National Honor Society this year, Taylor also has earned High Honor Roll and has been named Student of the Month every year since seventh grade. In her spare time outside of school, Taylor enjoys camping, working, and playing sports. Taylor’s future plans include attending college.

Sophomore Lincoln Smith is the son of Jamie and Terry Smith of Mayville. His favorite classes this year are Chemistry and Pre-Calculus. Lincoln has competed on the school’s soccer team since seventh grade and track team since eighth grade. He has also competed on the High School Academic Bowl team and the Envirothon team since ninth grade; his Envirothon team took first place in the County this year and is heading to the State Competition. Lincoln has also participated in the chess club this year. Outside of school, he enjoys riding his bike and flying his drone.

Molly Ulsh, a freshman, is the daughter of Kelly and Lee Ulsh of Mayville. Molly has competed on the school’s basketball team in seventh and ninth grade, and this year she also competes on the softball team. She also sings in chorus, participates in the Hiking Club, competes with Science Olympiad, and she was an alternate for the Envirothon team. Outside of school, Molly enjoys painting. Her future plans include attending college.

Eighth grader Emily Rankin, nicknamed Emma, is the daughter of Leslie Rankin of Mayville and Joshua Rankin of Cranesville, Pa. She has competed on the school’s softball team in both seventh and eighth grade. Outside of school, Emma enjoys playing sports and hanging out with friends. Emma’s future plans include attending college to become either a nurse or a biologist (either marine or wildlife).

Lane Scarpine, a seventh grader, is the son of Matt and Connie Scarpine of Stow. He competed on football, baseball, wrestling teams this year. Outside of school, Lane enjoys wrestling, playing baseball and football, fishing, hunting, camping, and hanging out with his cousins. Future plans include attending college, possibly participating in ROTC, and majoring in architecture.
