ARKWRIGHT — Town officials had nothing new to report on the state’s assessment of the intersection of Route 83 and Center Road.

The area is being evaluated by the state for possible safety improvements after a fatal car crash on Dec. 3 that claimed the life of 71-year-old Linda Kraemer of South Dayton.

According to New York State Police, the vehicle Kraemer was a passenger in was struck by a Chevrolet Trail Blazer driven by Randall Rolison, who was also charged in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl in Jamestown, in which Rolison was also the driver less than a year prior.

In addition, the The Arkwright Town Council recently unanimously approved the County Emergency Plan, which details the course of action if a disaster were to strike Chautauqua County. The five-year plan was posted to the official town website for the public to view in December.

The plan is required for the town to receive Federal Emergency Management Agency funding in case of an emergency. Highway Superintendent Lisa Waldron was named as the town’s disaster coordinator.
