Singles Group Visits Clymer

Single’s Group representatives are pictured, from left, Deanna Johnson, Laurie Evans, Floris Dunn and Jody Terhune. Missing is Joan Swanson.

Five members of the “19 to 99ers Singles Group” traveled to Clymer recently to dine and shop at the Clymer Dutch Village Restaurant and Gift Shop.

After lunch the group chanced a stop at the Clymer District School 5, or Little Red Schoolhouse. As luck would have it the owners/managers were on hand working at current renovations.

Derrick and Fern Letgers of Bloomfield, N.Y., afforded the group a tour and some personal history lessons as the group browsed the 1853 Greek Revival Schoolhouse building designed by architect Rinaldo Braman. Visitation and tours can be arranged by appointment by contacting Derrick and Fern Legters at dslegters@gmail.com. The building as well as the furnishings and literature date back to 1853.

Those wishing to be a part of the Singles Group can contact Jody I. Terhune, coordinator, “19 to 99ers Single’s Group”, Christ First United Methodist Church, 663 Lakeview Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701.
