RANDOLPH — On Feb. 1, members of Falconer FBLA attended the Spring District Competition held at Randolph Central School.

The annual event is a preliminary competition in preparation for their upcoming State Leadership Conference. They joined fellow FBLA members from throughout Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties in a variety of competitive events. A few select district elimination events offered the opportunity to perform in an impromptu environment in front of a panel of judges.

The first and second place winners in these events earn the right to represent District 13 at the state competition in April. In addition to these elimination events, members were able to compete in a variety of exam based competitions.

The following Falconer competitors earned recognition at the awards ceremony. District Elimination Event Awards (state qualifiers) went to first place winners, Jacob Thierfeldt, impromptu speaking, Garrett Carlson, intro to decision making, Zach Kianos, client service, and Curtis Hannon, intro to public speaking. Second place went to Kyla Renzi, job interview, and Spencer Bautista, public speaking.

Written Exam Awards went to: Spencer Bautista, second in business calculations, Kyla Renzi, third in intro to business communications. Declan LaForest placed first in intro to business communications and third in intro to FBLA.

Falconer members swept the intro to business event with Zach Kianos (first), Lily Brooks (second), and Hanna Higgs (third). The individual parliamentary procedures exam results included Jacob Thierfeldt (first), Spencer Bautista (second), and Curtis Hannon (third).

In addition, the parliamentary procedures team of Thierfeldt, Bautista, Hannon, and Carlson, have been notified that they qualified in the Top 5 of state-wide exam averages, and will be competing in the performance portion of the event at the state competition. For the first time ever the Falconer chapter decided to take on the FBLA creed speaking competition.

New member, Anna Carlson, took on the competition and placed 1st.

The State Leadership Conference will be held in Rochester in April.
