Jamestown High School’s Justice for All class recently held a talent show to celebrate and highlight the fun and unique talents of JHS students.

There were 13 acts from singers to musicians to cheerleaders to rap stars. Winners were: first place, Laurissa Franchina singing Jar of Hearts; second place, Elizabeth Lutgen with electric violin; and third place, Morgan Tracy and Sarah Russo’s rap with video.

The JHS Justice for All English elective class aims to highlight the good in everyone and to create more spaces and stories where people feel noticed, encouraged, and heard.

“Even though some called it a competition, the JHS Talent Show was really a celebration. In a time when many young people feel shy, judged, shut down, and discouraged- this is an event where we were able to cheer on, support, and boast the best who braved this moment to share a personal gift with the world,” said JHS Justice for All teacher Betsy Rowe-Baehr who along with fellow teacher Mike Tuccio plan the event. “We organized the Talent Show to give people proud moments to shine and learn more about themselves and to also give the audience an opportunity to spotlight and encourage more of us to share the creative ways people express themselves.”

Talent show participants included: Jena Luce, Olivia Ruiz, Mia Rowe, Lorisanet Torres, Yahir McFaline, Allison Ramsey, JonMichael Deangelo, D’Yavion Rosario, Donovan Gomez, Isaiah Quigley, Dylan Lydell, Sam Cornwell, Christian Dolce, Justus Smith, Elizabeth Lutgen, Taisha Correa, Laurissa Franchina, Morgan Tracy and Sarah Russo.

Judges included JHS Principal Mike McElrath and JHS teachers, Jennifer Lumia, Daryl Damcott and Faith Graham.
