Jeanine Dearman, chairwoman of the scholarship committee, presented the scholarship winners for 2018. This year the club awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Southwestern Central School seniors Hannah Finson and Makayla Johnson. The winners were selected from an extremely competitive pool of applicants based on their submitted essays and recommendations. Both winners were very appreciative in accepting their awards.

Hannah Finson will be attending Liberty University and major in biochemistry and molecular biology on a pre-med track. She plans to be an Ophthalmologist. Mikayla Johnson will be attending SUNY Fredonia and major in mathematics and dance. The scholarships are made possible as a result of the many fundraising activities conducted by the Women’s Club throughout the year.

A fashion show was also a part of the evening program. Several members modeled a variety of beautiful garments narrated by Ruth Nelson, owner of the Chautauqua Wearhouse.

Appreciation was expressed to Banquet Chairwoman, Sharon Westerberg and committee members Mary Phaneuf and Linda Scotty. Regular meetings will resume in September. To learn more about membership in the club, call Becky Danielson, membership chair at 763-5711.
