Jamestown Garden Club volunteers worked recently to winterize the horseshoe-shaped butterfly garden at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History.
The members wielded their hoes and shovels — digging and trimming the last blooms of summer and then planting bulbs that will welcome spring in 2018.
The Jamestown Garden Club is a member of The Federated Garden Clubs of New York, which is a member of National Garden Clubs Inc.; the largest gardening organization in the world. The club works to stimulate an interest in gardening, studies native trees, plants and birds to promote conservation and encourages civic planting. RTPI’s mission is to foster understanding, appreciation and protection of the natural world.
The Roger Tory Peterson Institute and the Jamestown Garden Club have been working together for the past several years on projects based on their shared interests.
