Washington School Names Anti-Bullying Poster Contest Winners
The Washington Middle School Builders Club and the Battle Cry Club hosted an anti-bullying poster contest last month. The Kiwanis Club of Jamestown, who sponsors the Washington Builders Club, donated four $25 Wal-mart gift cards. There were over 25 entries submitted with one winner per grade level.
“We thank the Kiwanis Club of Jamestown for their generous donation to help make our anti-bullying poster contest a success,” said Washington Middle School teacher Pat Smeraldo. “We appreciate all the Kiwanis do to help teach our students the importance of giving back to their community.”
The Washington Battle Cry Club is the school’s anti-bullying club. The Builders Club is a national club sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Builders Clubs are the largest service organization for middle school and junior high students with more than 45,000 members nationwide. Members learn to work together and develop skills as they serve their school and community. The Builders Club, along with the Battle Cry Club, often combine resources to complete community service projects such as ringing the bell for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign and working on anti-bullying projects at Washington Middle School.
