Josh Groban joins the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra for Josh Groban: Stage, Screen and Symphony on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Chautauqua Institution.

Tickets for Groban’s performance go on sale Friday.

Groban released a new album on Friday. Titled CINEMATIC, the album is a tribute to the world of the silver screen. Its 10 tracks include songs from such movie classics as The Godfather, Casablanca, The Lion King, Stand By Me and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

In addition to his performance at Chautauqua Institution this summer, Groban announced in December that he will embark on a North American tour with special guest Jennifer Hudson.

Groban has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide. His catalog spans a series of chart-topping blockbuster albums, including his debut album Josh Groban, which has been certified five times platinum; Closer, certified six times platinum; Noël, certified seven times platinum; Awake, certified two times platinum; Illuminations, All That Echoes, Stages, Bridges, and Harmony.

Groban made his Broadway debut in 2016 with a starring role in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. He garnered a Tony Award nomination for Best Lead Actor In A Musical. He has expanded his presence with appearances on Glee, The Simpsons, The Office, CSI: NY, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Crazy Ones as well as in the feature films Coffee Town, Muppets Most Wanted, and Crazy, Stupid, Love. In addition, he starred in the Netflix series

In 2022, he returned to Radio City Music Hall for a residency of his Great Big Radio City Show and launched a nationwide live tour. Groban also starred in ABC’s special Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration as the Beast in December 2022.

In the spring of 2023 Groban took to Broadway once again, performing in the revival of Sweeney Todd, playing the title role which earned him Tony and Grammy nominations.

Institution officials also announced recently that Kenny G will perform Thursday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m. in the Chautauqua Amphitheater. Kenny G’s professional career began with Barry White’s The Love Unlimited Orchestra at age 17. He played with the Seattle funk band Cold, Bold & Together before joining the Jeff Lorber Fusion in 1980. His solo career took off after signing with Arista Records in 1982. His debut album, Kenny G, was recorded with members of the Jeff Lorber Fusion and released in 1982. Kenny G’s fourth solo album, Duotones (1986), marked the start of his most commercially successful period, featuring the hit single “Songbird”. His 1992 album, Breathless, became the best-selling instrumental album ever, and his first holiday album, Miracles: The Holiday Album, sold over 13 million copies. He has worked on soundtracks for films such as The Bodyguard and collaborated with artists, including Andrea Bocelli and Frank Sinatra. In 2021, HBO released a documentary on Kenny G, Listening to Kenny G.

“If you’re going to criticize me, I’m just not going to go with that because I already know that I’m doing my very, very best. So, there’s where the confidence comes from,” Kenny G said in a 2021 interview with the Associated Press when the documentary was released. “Did it ever really hurt me? Honestly, no. Because I’ve got my armor of knowing I’m doing my very, very best. That’s why I practice every day… I’m never a little rusty — ever.”

Amy Grant will perform Friday, July 31, in the amphitheater, featuring songs from her first new album in over a decade, “The Me That Remains,” dropping this May.

Grant is a six-time Grammy winner and the wife of country music star Vince Gill. The singer — also known for “Every Heartbeat” and “That’s What Love is For” — has her roots in gospel music but found a larger audience with the release of her 1991 record “Heart in Motion.”

“I’ve always been compelled by curiosity and I think sometimes a potential listener can lose interest because of how something is pegged,” Grant told The Associated Press last week. “Sometimes the way I’m introduced, I’m on the side of the stage waiting to go out and just the verbiage, I’d go, “Whew, I wouldn’t stay for that show.” Nothing about that interested me. Curiosity is such a great thing. Curiosity makes us lean in. Everybody’s faith journey is unique. I am staking everything on the fact that it’s God who finds us. And I trust that. And I think how we let that exhibit in our lives might make somebody else curious to lean in. As a person of deep faith, I have stood outside under stormy skies, under a full moon at different times in my life and said, “Am I just talking to the ceiling? Are you really there?” And I don’t know, I come away and go, “I don’t know where else to turn.” But that’s my journey.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
