Boxing Out Cancer Benefit Scheduled For March 19

On March 19, the public is invited to participate in a cancer benefit for Bea and Ed Smith. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and after treatment, she was in remission until March 2015. The cancer has returned and she is now in stage four and working hard with her doctors and medical team to fight this disease again.

Friends and relatives of Smith are working hard to present the Boxing Out Cancer benefit, from 1-6 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Club, located at 41 Biglow Ave. in Jamestown.

Fighting cancer is hard and expensive. Travel costs, medical co-pays, medicines, parking, meals and more are on the list of unexpected costs due this cancer experience.

The benefit will include a chicken barbecue dinner for $7, presale or $8 at the door; music entertainment with karaoke and members of the bands Big Leg Emma and Smack Dab; a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction and more.

“This will be a great way to enjoy a Saturday evening and help out another Jamestown family,” said Bill Smith, Bea’s brother-in-law.

For all those interested in supporting the cause but unable to attend the event, checks may be sent to Bea Smith, P.O. 263, Jamestown NY 14701. There is also a Gofundme page at www.gofundme.com/Beaboxingcancer.
