Prendergast Library Offers Winter Break Activities The James Prendergast Library will offer several special activities for children and teenagers during the upcoming winter break. On Dec. 23, the library will host a Nightlight/Fiber Optic Lamp craft from 3 to 4 p.m. for children ages 6-12 and a Felt Succulent Craft from 5 to 6 p.m. for those ages 12 to 18. BPU Announces Christmas, New Year’s Hours The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Customer Service and offices will be closed for Christmas on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25. For New Year’s, offices will be closed on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Garbage and recycling for Dec. 23-28 and Dec. 30-Jan. 4 will be delayed by one day, starting with Christmas Day and New Year’s Day when Wednesday collections occur on Thursdays. Legion Post 556 Auxiliary Meets, Agrees To Make Donation To Help Family FREWSBURG - The Samuel L. Derby Unit 556 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Frewsburg met recently and agreed to make a $700 monetary donation to the family of Jace Haase, member Laurie Swanson’s grandson, who will be undergoing chemotherapy in Pittsburgh for up to two years. It was noted that the cost of Girls State is now $400 per girl. Membership is at 163 members, or 65%.
