County Parks Commission Meets Thursday

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet at the Chautauqua County Airport on Thursday, March 26, at 10 a.m. in the conference room. The meeting is open to the public.

First Lutheran To Host Noon Lent Service Wednesday

Andrea Magnuson will be the guest speaker at the midweek noon-time Lenten Service at First Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 25. Kimberly King will be the organist. The Lenten services are sponsored by the Southwestern Conference Lutherans and will be held in the Memorial Chapel which is handicap accessible. The 12 p.m. service will be followed by a soup, salad, and homemade pie luncheon in the church parlors for a nominal fee. The luncheon is sponsored by the First Lutheran Altar Society. The public is welcome to attend. Holy Communion will be celebrated at the noon Maundy Thursday service on April 2, with the Rev. Daniel K. Nagle, presiding. The Good Friday service on April 3, will also be held at noon in the Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Nagle officiating.

City School Board Meets Today

The Jamestown City School District will hold a board meeting today, March 24, at 6 p.m. in the boardroom of the administration building, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The agenda may be viewed at www.jpsny.org/boardagenda. The public is welcome to attend.

Reg Lenna To Screen Films Wednesday, Friday

The Testament of Ann Lee and Pillion will be screened this week at the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts. Academy Award nominee Amanda Seyfried stars in The Testament of Ann Lee (Wednesday, March 25, at 7 p.m.) Preaching gender and social equality and revered by her followers, the film captures the Shakers’ founder’s quest to build a utopia. From Director Mona Fastvold (The World to Come, The Brutalist) and featuring more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns reimagined as rapturous movements with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall (Vox Lux) and original songs & score by Academy Award winner Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist). The Testament of Ann Lee is rated R and is 137 minutes long. Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling star in Pillion (Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m.) In the film, a timid man (Melling) is swept off his feet when an enigmatic, impossibly handsome biker (Skarsgård) takes him on as his submissive. Pillion is unrated and is 107 minutes long. Upcoming Movies at The Reg include: the family-friendly animated film Goat (April 3 and April 6.), and Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights (April 10 at 7 p.m.) Tickets for most Movies at The Reg are $8 in-person at the box office and $10 at reglenna.com and by calling 716-484-7070.
