Audubon To Host Holiday Camps Tuesday, Wednesday
The Audubon Community Nature Center will host holiday camps for children ages 4 to 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 30-31. Children can play outdoors, be active and learn about the season. Children should dress for the weather, bring water and snacks and a lunch that does not need refrigeration, and extras of anything that might get wet. Cost for either day is $48 for ages 4 to 12 or $36 for Nature Center member children. Additional siblings receive a $5 discount. Enrollment is limited. Paid reservations are required by Friday, Dec. 26, for the Tuesday camp or Monday, Dec. 29, for the Wednesday camp.
Cassadaga Legion Post 1280 Auxiliary Meets
CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held its regular monthly meeting recently with 13 senior members attending. Correspondence was read with thank you notes from the two local food pantries for the auxiliary’s donations. Paula Pattison reported the auxiliary had held two funeral luncheons, and she continues to send get well and sympathy cards as needed. Unit 1280’s 2026 membership is at 68% paid for the year; dues are $30,and can be paid by mail at 228 Maple Ave., Cassadaga 14718, or paid at the post. Finance chairperson Lauren Sharp presented the 2026 budget, after some discussion, it was approved. Sharp also organized a collection and delivered items and monetary donations to the Blue Star Mothers for their holiday packages being sent to troops stationed overseas. The next auxiliary meeting will be Tuesday Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the post.
National Guard Promotions Announced
Major General Ray Shields, the Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership. Local promotions include Anthony Lintz of Jamestown, assigned to Bravo Troop, 2nd Squadron, 101st Cavalry Regiment, promoted to the rank of staff sergeant; Annabella Turk of Kennedy, assigned to Alpha Company, 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, promoted to private first class; and Wyatt Weaver of Randolph, assigned to Charlie Company, NY Army National Guard Recruiting & Retention Battalion, promoted to private. Army National Guard promotions are based on a Soldier’s overall performance, demonstrated leadership abilities, professionalism and future development potential.
Air National Guard Promotion Announced
Air Force Major General Michael Bank, the commander of the New York Air National Guard, announced the recent promotion of Elizabeth Fandohan from Westfield, assigned to the 107th Attack Wing, to the rank of staff sergeant. Air National Guard promotions are based on a soldier’s overall performance, demonstrated leadership abilities, professionalism and future development potential.
