Red Cross To Host Blood Drive Dec. 29 In Westfield

WESTFIELD – The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 29 at Eason Hall, 23 Elm St., Westfield. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Audubon To Host Christmas With Critters Dec. 29

The Audubon Community Nature Center will host its Christmas with the Critters from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29. The event includes a live animal program, animal artifacts, a craft station and a chance to make a gift for the wild animals. Audubon is home to many live animals including a pair of hellbenders, a frog and several species of turtles and snakes. Three birds of prey also call ACNC home: Cricket the American Kestrel, and Soren and Bridgette the Red-tailed Hawks. These animals are an essential part of the education team as they teach visitors about wildlife in our area and how they move, grow, and survive. Admission for either time is $8 for adults, $6 for Nature Center members and children ages 3 to 15, and free for children two and under. Reservations are recommended. Male Grove Announces Students Of The Month

Maple Grove Junior-Senior High School officials have announced the school’s Students of the Month for October and November. October Students of the Month are Jaime Long, sixth grade; Sara Johnson, seventh grade; Owen Marzec, eighth grade; Rodrigo Delgadillo, ninth grade; Regina Hernandez-Vasquez, 10th grade; Aydin Warner, 11th grade; and Mae Benedetto, 12th grade. November Students of the Month are: Elsie Johnson, sixth grade; Josephine Hatfield, seventh grade; Pailynn Near, eighth grade; JT Sellstrom, ninth grade; Kaylynne Koxlien, 10th grade; William Benson, 11th grade; and Rayshawn Anderson, 12th grade.

Audubon Building Closed Jan. 5-16, Outdoor Areas Remain Open

The Audubon Community Nature Center’s outdoor areas will remain open while the building is closed from Monday, Jan. 5, through Friday, Jan. 16, for staff planning. Outdoor areas include live birds of prey, the native tree arboretum, the Nature Play Area, and hike, snowshoe or cross country ski the six miles of trails for free, dawn until dusk.
