Blood Drive today At Cassadaga Fire Hall
CASSADAGA – The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. at the Cassadaga Fire Hall, 22 Mill St., Cassadaga. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
New gift shop coming to Cassadaga
CASSADAGA – A new gift shop is coming to Chautauqua County.
The Heart of the Valley is going to have a soft opening on Saturday, 8038 Rt. 60, Cassadaga, which is the former Community Bank. It is next door to Cassadaga ShurFine. Local vendors scheduled to participate include: Artistic Expressions, Kabob Bears, Antiquated, Gems & Goods by ACee, Morninwood Candles, Bear Ridge Farm, Creative Cards, Catbird Hollow, LJL Designs and The Pillow Lady. Hours will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The building is still under construction. “We may not have heat, we may not have a pretty floor, and we may have limited electricity but I am certain that you won’t be disappointed,” said owner Elaine Bardol. Sinclairville Library To Host Local Author Showcase
SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Free Library will host its winter Local Author Showcase featuring local published authors on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Authors participating include Joan Wahl, is a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County whose love of country music and Nashville inspired a series of books set in Music City; multi-genre writer Jason K Bussman, whose debut book FUMBLE: Just a Dad Trying Not to Drop the Ball is now available; and the Rev. W Craig Stratton’s Remembrances of a Hospital Chaplain: The Day I Lost My Face is a look into a chaplain’s daily encounters serving individuals and families during their times of greatest vulnerability. The showcase will also include writers from the library’s Write Circle Writer’s group, Clark Zlotchew and Richard Knott. Zlotchew has published 19 books and was honored in 2008 with a promotion to the rank of SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Spanish Language and Spanish and Latin American Literatures.
