Floating Stage Concerts End Sunday

CASSADAGA – The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga will hold its final concert of the season from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, featuring Smilo and the Ghost on the floating stage at Cassadaga Beach on Park Avenue, Cassadaga. Smilo and the Ghost is an Americana-grit folk band that creates a fusion of folk, alternative country and soul. The concert is free and Cassadaga Youth Sports will be serving up refreshments. There will be a few artists, crafters on the basketball court. Lifeguards will be on duty and kids can enjoy the playground and tetherball. There are picnic tables, grills and shade trees. A boat parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the middle lake. Beach parking is limited. Park at the nearby library, church or firehall if able to do so. In case of inclement weather, this concert will be moved to the Cassadaga Fire Hall on 22 Mill St. or American Legion Post 1280 on 228 Maple Ave. For more information, call 716-665-8855.

Pickup Changes Due To

Labor Day

FALCONER – Due to the Labor Day holiday, garbage pickup in the village of Falconer is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3. Residents are asked to refrain from putting trash and articles to the curb until Tuesday evening.

BPU Garbage/Recycling

Collection Delayed Due

To Labor Day

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day. Garbage and recycling will not be collected on that day. Due to the holiday, Monday’s regular garbage and recycling collection will be delayed until Tuesday, Sept. 2. In the same way, Tuesday’s collection will be delayed until Wednesday; Wednesday’s collection will be moved to Thursday; Thursday’s collection will be moved to Friday; and Friday’s collection will be moved to Saturday, Sept. 6. The Yard Waste Site, 1001 Monroe St., will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, even though it is the Labor Day holiday weekend. The site will be open as usual from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, but will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 6, to allow for Saturday garbage and recycling collection. BPU bill payments can be made online 24 hours a day at www.jamestownbpu.com under “My Account” using credit or debit cards. Credit and debit card payments can be made 24 hours a day at 716-661-1660, option 3. Check or money order payments (no cash) can be placed in drop boxes located in the BPU parking lot, 92 Steele Street; Jamestown City Hall, Tracy Plaza, 200 West Third Street; and in the Jamestown Police Department vestibule, on the East Second side of City Hall. Customers may call 716-661-1640 outside of business hours to report emergency issues for all BPU Divisions. During regular business hours, they may call BPU Customer Service at 716-661-1660.

Frewsburg School Board To Hold Special Meeting Sept. 3

FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the middle-high school library, 26 Institute St., Frewsburg. It is anticipated the board will enter into executive session. The public is welcome to attend.
