Westfield Fire Department To Hold Blood Drive Oct. 10

WESTFIELD – The Westfield Fire Department will be holding a blood drive on Friday, Oct. 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. Those wishing to donate should be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent. You should weigh at least 110 pounds, have no tattoo or piercings in the past three months, and be in general good health. Please eat before donating, and a photo ID is required in order to donate. All blood types are needed and walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment time call Nancy at 716-753-6641. Every donor will receive a free t-shirt from the Community Blood Bank. The Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood products to the Westfield Memorial Hospital. The blood drive will be held at the Westfield Fire Department Hall on Clinton Street.

Apple Butter Festival Set For Oct. 11

WESTFIELD – The West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Route 20, Westfield, will be hosting its 11th annual Apple Butter Festival on Saturday Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be old-fashioned kettle cooked apple butter available for a donation and more than 40 vendors offering various sale items including food vendors. The festival will take place rain or shine. All profits generated from the festival will be donated to the Brocton/Portland Food Pantry operated on the church grounds. Admission is free.

Humane Society To Host Rabies Clinic

The Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, and the Chautauqua County Health Department will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 11. Animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. Pre-registration is required and should be submitted online by visiting HealthyCHQ.com/Rabies and view the calendar for upcoming clinics. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Those who register but decide not to attend the event are asked to cancel their appointment so the spot is available for another pet. Appointments can be canceled via the confirmation email received after registering. Pet owners must bring previous rabies vaccination records for each animal receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination; clinic staff will confirm previous rabies vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash. All cats and ferrets must be in individual carriers. Animal handlers will transport animals to the veterinarian for vaccination.

ILS Veterans Club To Host Dinner Oct. 11

The ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, will host Sam Boscia, who will be serving spaghetti and meatball dinners at the post on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., or until gone. The cost of the dinner is $12 for adults and $7 for children and dinners will include salad and bread. Take-out dinners are available. The dinner is open to the public. The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary will have desserts for sale to benefit its programs. The post will open at 3 p.m.
