The Porter-Blair Cleaning & Co. LLC will host a back to school event from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at 701 W. Eighth St., Jamestown. The event will be held rain or shine, with supplies given away on a first-come, first-served basis. The giveaway is part of the company’s celebration of its fifth year in business.
Vegetarian/Vegan Society
To Meet Aug. 17
WESTFIELD – The August meeting of the Chautauqua Vegetarian/Vegan Society will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the YWCA in Westfield. Following the potluck dinner Carol Markham of the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will speak. Those attending are asked to bring a vegan dish to share for the dinner. Sinclairville Library Continues Art Nights

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Free Library is accepting registrations for its last two community art nights on Aug. 18 and Aug. 25. At 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, For the Birds with Erin Gray will teach those attending more about Roger Tory Peterson and the library’s Day Adventure Pass Program. Each participant will create a parrot drawing using their handprint and other art mediums. Art of Succulents on Monday, Aug. 25, at 5 p.m., will teach those attending how to care for and propagate succulents. Each participant can create a small decorative hanging planter with real succulents. Different succulents to select from along with decorative items. The library will also be hosting an ice cream social to celebrate the end of summer reading on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. The social will also be the last chance to turn in reading logs for prizes. Programs provided using funding from the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System’s Mini Summer Reading Grant 2025. North Harmony Seniors To Meet Aug. 18, Host BBQ Aug. 30
STOW – The North Harmony Senior Citizens recently completed the renovation of its entry door. The existing entrance was replaced with a handicap accessible door with remote push buttons for operation. The new 42-inch door will accommodate wheelchairs easily. There is a swing out leaf that opens to allow for an even wider opening. The project was accomplished with grants from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, the Lenna Foundation and the Carnahan-Jackson Foundation. The North Harmony Senior Citizens will meet on Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. for the club’s regular monthly dinner meeting at their building, 5377 Stow Road, Stow, next to Caster Well Drillers. Also, the group will host a chicken barbecue and open house on Saturday, Aug. 30, from noon to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $15. Eat-in or drive-through orders will be offered.
