Spaghetti Dinner To Be Held At Vets Club

The ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Avenue, Jamestown will welcome Sam Boscia from the Marco Polo Club, who will be serving a spaghetti and meatballs dinner at the post on July 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. or until gone. The cost of the dinner is $12 for adults and $7 for children and dinners will include salad and bread. Take-out dinners are available. The dinner is open to the public. The post will open at 3 p.m.

Kennedy Fire Department Centennial Celebration

The Kennedy Fire Department is celebrating 100 years in service to the community this year. The fire department will be celebrating on July 19 with a parade, car cruise in, bounce houses, food trucks, water wars, and live music. July 20 there will be a chicken barbecue available.

Fenton History Center To Host Trolley Car Tour

The Fenton History Center will host a visit to the #93 Trolley, its restoration and needs on Saturday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m. at 1862 Delaware Avenue at the end of Third Avenue, Falconer. The South County Transfer Station entrance is on Third Avenue. Those attending are asked to meet at the site at 10:15 a.m. Bob Johnston along with several dedicated volunteers has been restoring the trolley for more than 25 years. Johnston will tell the history and plans for the restoration project. The cost is $12 for prospective members and $8 for members.

Scandinavian Folk Festival Includes Musical Performances

The featured band at this year’s Scandinavian Folk Festival is Abbamania from Toronto, Canada. Their concert is Saturday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m. Also returning is Smorgabandet, a Long Island bank that brings interactive music to events in the tri-state area and beyond. Local musicians in the band Svenska Spelman will perform during both days of the festival. Their focus is the waltz, polka, schottis, and hambo as well as the more contemporary music of Benny Anderson from ABBA. The band also provides live music for the Thule adult and children’s folk dance teams. The Scandinavian Folk Festival is July 19 and 20, 2025, at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. Patriot Burial Marker Ceremony To Be Held July 26 In Niobe

NIOBE – The Patriot Burial Marker recognizing the service of Nathaniel Mather will be unveiled on Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at the Tillotson Cemetery, just south of the corner of County Route 33, Panama-Bear Lake Road, and County Route 12 near Niobe. The Chautauqua County Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be conducting the ceremony along with officials of the cemetery and the town of Harmony. All are welcome to attend. Note the road is closed due to bridge replacement. Please follow detours to arrive at the cemetery as County Route 33 is temporarily closed due to bridge replacement.

County Receives Grant For Dunkirk Airport

Chautauqua County has been awarded $143,172 by the Department of Transportation for the Dunkirk Airport. Specifically, the Federal Aviation Administration awarded the grant for the Airport Improvement Program for the design and rehabilitation of Taxiway A West at the Dunkirk Airport. “As the chairman of the House Aviation Safety Caucus, I am pleased that the FAA is investing in small local airports such as the Dunkirk Airport,” said U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-23. “This funding will be used to ensure that the runways at Dunkirk Airport are of the highest standard – because when it comes to aviation safety, we must ensure the absolute best.”

Rabies Vaccination Clinic Scheduled July 19 In Carroll

FREWSBURG – The Chautauqua County Health Department will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic sponsored by the town of Carroll and the Health Department from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Carroll Town Hall, 5 W. Main St., Frewsburg. Animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. While supplies last, microchipping and distemper shots will also be available through the Chautauqua County Humane Society at no cost. The Chautauqua County Humane Society is located at 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown. Pre-registration is required and should be submitted online by visiting HealthyCHQ.com/Rabies. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Those who register but decide not to attend are asked to cancel their reservation so the spot is available for another pet. Appointments can be canceled via the confirmation email received when registering.
