Church To Host VBS

KIANTONE – Kiantone Congregational Church, 646 Kiantone Road, will host “Magnified” vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 14-17, for children ages 4 to 12. Steve and Nopaluck Cable, missionaries to Thailand along with a Thai team, will assist. Call 716-450-1725 for information or pre-registration.

Blood Drive Set

BEMUS POINT – The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, at the Bemus Point School District Garage parking lot, 42 Main St., Bemus Point. Donations are needed from all blood types, but especially O-negative, the universal donor type. CBB is asking all eligible individuals to consider donating to help meet the critical need. To donate, individuals must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. Appointments can be scheduled by visiting www.fourhearts.org or by calling Edinger at 814-596-3395. Walk-ins are also welcome, but scheduling an appointment ensures a smoother process for donors. Blood donations take about 45 minutes.

Ross Grange Ready For Fair

The usual July meeting of Ross Grange 305 will not be held due to County Fair activities. There will be a display booth depicting “Ross Grange celebrates 150 years” in Floral Hall at the Dunkirk Fairgrounds. The August meeting will be as planned at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall.

AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary reveals meeting changes

The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 726, which meets at the ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Avenue, Jamestown, will be suspending meetings during July and August, to give members the freedom to spend their summer with family and friends. The auxiliary will begin meetings again on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m.

Historical Society To Meet July 15

BLOCKVILLE – Eric Cook, executive director of the Venango Historical Society, will be presenting a program on Thomas Furlong, known as Venango County’s Sherlock Holmes, on Tuesday, July 15, at 7 p.m. at the Harmony Historical Society. Cook will be discussing an overview of Furlong’s life and some of his most interesting cases. Furlong spent some of his childhood years in Panama. For more information about this presentation, go to the Harmony Historical Society Facebook page. The Harmony Historical Society is located at 1943 Open Meadows Road, Ashville. The presentation is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

City Planning Commission To Meet July 15

The Jamestown Planning Commission will meet at 3:30 p.m. July 15 in the police training room on the fourth floor of Jamestown City Hall. Items on the agenda include a proposed project for apartments at 16 Scott Street, a proposed gym and fitness center at 834 Monroe Street and the proposed rezoning of an R-2 zone near Jackson Taylor Park to be adjusted to C-1 as recommended by city staff. The public is welcome to attend.
