MAYVILLE – The Mayville-Chautauqua Comprehensive Plan group will meet at 6 p.m. today in Chautauqua Lake Central School. Following a brief presentation, breakout centers around the auditorium will give all an opportunity to review and comment on the draft recommendations. CELORON – The South and Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts Administrative Board will meet at noon Thursday, June 5, in the Water Pollution Control Facility in Celoron. The public is welcome to attend.
Lakewood Library To Open Exhibit Thursday
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library will host the work of local artist Jackie Damore in June. An opening reception will be held at the library at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 5. Damore’s art includes layered oil paint on hard panel or canvas, depicting local landscapes, animals, and birds with a focus on atmosphere, light and emotional resonance.
Jackson Center To Host Lecture Thursday
The Robert H. Jackson Center will host a presentation titled “The U.S. Department of Justice, Then & Now” with two legal scholars, Barbara L. McQuade and John Q. Barrett, at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 5. The program will examine the U.S. Justice Department’s evolution and its role in American democracy followed by a reception and book-signing. McQuade brings her wealth of experience as an MSNBC columnist, NBC News and MSNBC legal analyst, and co-host of the popular #SistersInLaw podcast. She is also the author of Attack from Within: How Disinformation Is Sabotaging America, University of Michigan Law School Professor, and former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan (2010-2017). Barrett is a Jackson biographer, Benjamin N. Cardozo Professor of Law at St. John’s University, and Elizabeth S. Lenna Fellow at the Robert H. Jackson Center. Mayville Senior Citizens To
Meet June 5
MAYVILLE – The Mayville Senior Citizens will meet Thursday, June 5, with the club providing submarine sandwiches for lunch at the Mayville VFW at noon. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass. Program Chair Bill Tornstrom said Bridgette Paoletta from the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging will be the guest speaker. She will discuss resources and programs available for senior citizens.
