Jamestown basketball camps are July 6-9

Jamestown High School’s Red & Green Basketball Camps will be held Monday, July 6 through Thursday, July 9 at Jefferson Middle School. The Little Ballers Camp for boys and girls entering grades 1-4 will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. each day. The cost is $75 and includes a T-shirt if registered by June 12. This camp is an introduction to basketball skills and concepts. Youngsters will be taught the rules of the game and how to properly shoot, pass, dribble, pivot and play defense in a fun atmosphere. CASSADAGA — Brad Kelly recorded his first-ever hole-in-one last Thursday at Cassadaga Country Club. Using his 7-iron, Kelly aced the 172-yard 17th hole. The shot was witnessed by Nick Krupa, Tom McQuiggan and Steve Wintersteen.

Dunkirk falls in Class A2 prequarterfinal

ALBION — Nathan Gibson allowed just one hit and struck out 12 over six innings of work as No. 8 Albion beat No. 9 Dunkirk 5-3 in a Section VI Class A2 prequarterfinal baseball game Friday. Elliott Trapiss led the Albion offense with two hits while Gibson, Will Plummer, Viktor Snyder and Kaiden Froman each drove in a run. The Purple Eagles will travel to No. 1 City Honors for a quarterfinal at noon today. Dunkirk’s season ends with a 10-7 record.
