DUNKIRK - The Dunkirk Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 100 block of South Gazelle Street late Thursday. Officers responded to the area around 9:54 p.m. and located an adult male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. A man has sued his mother over the 2024 death of his father at the Chautauqua County garbage transfer station on Webster Road. William Bartoo was accidentally struck July 11, 2024, while depositing garbage into the pit at the county facility. He was hit by a vehicle driven by his wife, Sharon Bartoo. He died from his injuries July 30. William Bartoo’s son, Wesley Bartoo, subsequently sued the county. Chautauqua County also sued Sharon Bartoo over the incident.
