Thinking about the old Allen Park pony ring in my last column reminded me of my old neighborhood and of the dogs who were a part of that neighborhood. The Grandest Time

I found a book the other day at the Lakewood Library on the grand old hotels that dotted the lake in the early to late 19th century.All but two of the 19 magnificent structures featured in the book were demolished or burned, which to me is the real story. Sixteen-year-old Joyce Wiltsie is the reigning 2016-17 Chautauqua County Dairy Princess. She will be promoting 3-A-Day for the next year, a campaign that encourages everyone to drink and/or eat three dairy products per day, including milk, cheese and yogurt.As Dairy Princess she has participated in many events and made several appearances at schools and events all over Chautauqua County. Photos Show Aircraft Assembly Plant In City

A fine set of photographs that document the construction of the American Aviation Corporation's assembly plant located at the Jamestown Airport has spurred a bit of research about the company and the product. This set of over 40 photographs was donated to the collection of the Fenton History Center. The assembly plant was built, beginning in the fall of 1942, and looks about finished in the last photograph dated March 12, 1943.This assembly plant, when finished, produced wooden airplanes - everyone knew that during the war.
