Southwestern Middle School officials recently named the school’s Students of the Month for September. They are:

Emma Landy, sixth grade and the daughter of Mike and Delia Landy. Her favorite subjects in school are ELA, science, and band. Emma plays on the Southwestern basketball team, and she belongs to the Quiz Bowl. Outside of school, Emma plays on the AAU Fusion Travel Basketball team and participates in Chautauqua Striders Youth Track and Field and Babe Ruth softball. When she’s not at school, she enjoys playing sports, reading, and playing the clarinet. One fun fact about Emma is that she has read over 20 books written by the author Rick Riordan this year.

Thomas Haskell, seventh grade and the son of John and Andrea Haskell. Thomas’ favorite subjects in school are social studies and gym. He plays on the Southwestern modified football team and plays soccer and baseball. When he’s not at school, he likes to hang out with friends. One fun fact about Thomas is that he’s been playing the drums for a long time.

Parker Colburn, eighth grade and the son of Liz Witherspoon and Jason Colburn. His favorite subject in school is social studies. Parker plays on the football, wrestling, and track teams. He is a member of the middle school Junior Honor Society and CIT at Camp Onyahsa. When Parker is not in school, he enjoys playing sports. One fun fact about him is that he wants to be an engineer.
