Michael A. “Beef” Merwick

Michael A. “Beef” Merwick, 61, of 174 Newton Avenue, passed away Saturday July 26, 2025, in Salamanca Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born Nov. 19, 1963, in McKees Rocks, PA, and the son of the late Betty Branchick Merwick.

A 1983 graduate of Sto-Rox Senior High School and Pittsburgh Occupational Institute of Culinary Arts, Beef was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a food service worker. He earlier had worked at the Jamestown Boys and Girls Club where he thoroughly enjoyed teaching the rope course, a team-building exercise.

Known as “Boys Club Beef” he was a life member of the Boys Club and was awarded many awards over the years including Youth of the Year. In addition, he was an avid woodworker.

Surviving are siblings Ed (Brenda) Merwick of Jamestown, Tom Merwick of Stephens City, VA, Nick Merwick of Pittsburgh, PA, Sandy “Sambo” Merwick of Michigan and Marianne (Karl) McCoy of Moon Township, PA and several nieces and nephews including Little Eddie (Bre), Krystol, and Raquel, to whom he was especially close.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by siblings Leonard and Valerie Merwick and Deborah Williams.

A time of visitation will be held from 4-6 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. No funeral service will be observed.
