CHAUTAUQUA – A Mayville woman has been arrested for allegedly leaving a pet in a hot vehicle.

On Thursday at about 2:20 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Elmwood Road in the Town of Chautauqua for a report of a dog that was left in a vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies observed a dog that appeared to be very weak and dehydrated and was being attended to by residents of the community.

It is alleged that 55-year-old Catherine Gatto had allegedly left the dog inside of a truck for an extended period of time.

Gatto was issued an appearance ticket for torturing or injuring animals and will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later time.
