David E. Niedbalski

David E. (“Chief”) Niedbalski, 60, of Jamestown passed away unexpectedly Thursday (August 8, 2024) in UPMC Chautauqua.

He was born February 25, 1964 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Donald E. and Phyllis PeacockNiedbalski.

David attended Silver Creek High School and made a career for himself as an auto mechanic.

He was employed with West Herr Ford in Hamburg, and Seneca Hawk in Silver Creek over the years. David was also employed at Nickel City Glass in Hamburg; New York He enjoyed telling stories about how he was a child worker at Larson Gas Station in Silver Creek. In his later years, he was employed at the Falconer Central School District as a cleaner and a bus monitor. He was proud of and enjoyed his role as a monitor, always mentioning how he knew that he made a difference in lives, even if it was small.

He was a member of the Irving Fire Department for over 25 years. David loved tractors, motorcycles, classic cars, classic rock music, WWII history and car shows. David also enjoyed curling, shuffleboard, and hockey. He loved spending time outside or in his garage with his wife, tinkering with his tractors and motorcycle. Everybody that knew him always joked with him that he had the shiniest tractor parts around. He also enjoyed spending time with his cats, Sheba and Tabby, and his four-legged best buddy Max.

He is survived by his wife Shirley (Hoch) (Himes) Niedbalski of Jamestown whom he married February 14, 2015 in their home; two daughters: Samantha (Matthew) Woodin of Cheektowaga, NY; Paige (Thomas) Cruz of Silver Creek; Kathy Niedbalski of Irving, the mother of his children; step children: Craig (Elisa) Himes of Warren, PA, Christopher (Angi) Himes of Ellington, Shawn (Stephanie) Himes of Des Moines, IA, Rachel Himes of Jamestown; grandchildren: Gavin Cruz, Carter Cruz, Quinn Cruz, Kye Cruz, Eleanor Woodin, Emory Himes, Ansley Himes, Charlotte Himes, Winston Himes, Layla Himes; two sisters: Donna Dietrich of Arkwright, NY; Dianna (Steve) Lucas of Cottage, NY.

His funeral will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday (August 13, 2024) in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Dick Johnson, pastor of Clarks Corners Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.

Friends will be received by the family, Monday (August 12, 2024) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service (10 AM to 11:00 AM). The family asks that everyone that attends the funeral to dress casually.
