The Little Mermaid and Asteroid City will be shown at the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts.

The Little Mermaid (Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. at a sensory-friendly screening) is Rob Marshall’s live-action reimagining of Disney’s beloved animated musical classic, the story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. The Little Mermaid is rated PG and is 135 minutes long. Sensory friendly showings are presented with the volume set lower and lights in the theater set higher for patrons with sensitivity issues. Movement around the theater is encouraged as needed. Ideal first movie experience for toddlers.

Asteroid City (Wednesday at 7 p.m.) takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events. Asteroid City is rated PG-13 and is 105 minutes long.

Upcoming Movies at The Reg include a special engagement anniversary showing of the 1998 Adam Sandler comedy The Wedding Singer (Aug. 9 at 7 p.m.) and the Yogi Berra documentary It Ain’t Over (Aug. 18 at 7 p.m.)

Tickets to Movies at The Reg are $7 for movies and $6 for family films, with an additional $1 theater restoration fee added. Special movie engagements are priced differently. Tickets may be purchased from noon to 5 p.m. Monday and Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at 716-484-7070 and online at reglenna.com.
