Mary E. (Derby) Carpenter

Mary E. (Derby) Car-penter, 80, of W. Third St., Jamestown, formerly of Shirley Lane Jamestown, passed away Tuesday Nov. 15, 2022 in Jamestown.

She was born June 19, 1942 in Charlotte Center, N.Y., the daughter of the late Willard E. and Helena L. (Jungberg) Derby.

Mary attended Randolph Central School, and retired from Randolph Central School on Jan. 28, 2000, where she was a cleaner. Following retirement, she worked at Wendy’s in Lakewood.

For many years, Mary was a private Home Health Care Aide, working for the families of Katie Keith, Margaret McGee and Roberta Clark.

She is survived by a son Daniel Carpenter of East Randolph, two daughters, Rose Carpenter of James-town and Katherine Elliott and husband Chad of Rich-mond, VA., and their chil-dren, Lauren and Conner Elliott. She is also survived by a brother, Ralph (Joyce) Derby of Randolph, a sis-ter, Marcia (Late Ronald) Pritchard of Tennessee, and her former husband, Donald “Jaime” Carpenter of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wil-lard and Helena, step moth-er Violet (Helms) Derby, and a brother John Derby.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 22, 2022) from the VanRensselaer & Son Fun-eral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Burial/Inurnment will be in the East Randolph Cemetery at a later date.
