JCC’s Gullo Places First At Tournament

QUEENSBURY — Wrapping up its road trip in the North Country on Saturday, the Jamestown Community College golf team competed at the SUNY Adirondack Golf Tournament at Hiland Park Country Club, a par-72 course.

“The course conditions today were outstanding,” said interim head coach George Sisson. “Our guys were able to settle in early and get comfortable. Everyone upped their game from yesterday and I believe we are headed in the right direction.”

Sophomore Anthony Gullo (Jamestown/Jamestown High School) placed first after carding a 5-over 77. Gullo tied with Sam Hyman from Niagara County CC, but had the handicap tie-breaker. Gullo parred 10 holes while sinking a pair of birdies.

Sophomore David Allen (Jamestown/Falconer) improved from Thursday, tying for ninth-place. Allen parred seven holes while recording one birdie.

Freshman Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) rounded out the Jayhawk performers, finishing 22nd.
