County Representative Reports To Ross Grange Members During October Meeting

Lois Kesby, county representative to State Grange annual session, reported to Ross Grange members of that meeting.

Instead of the usual five days of activities, it concluded after an evening and one daytime meeting at State Grange Headquarters in Cortland. Several attended by Zoom for health reasons. Richard Ball, state agriculture commissioner, was the only speaker via Zoom. The annual memorial service was held and legislative work was completed. Plans were made for next year’s annual meeting from Oct. 15-19 in Corning. 2023 will be the 150th anniversary of New York State Grange.

The Ross Grange meeting was held following lunch served by Mary Jane Griffith. Betty Wakefield read a resolution of respect for W. Dale Barmore, with a copy to be placed on file and one sent to his family. Mrs. Griffith reported for the scholarship committee that they have selected candidates with the final choice to be made by the Southern Chautauqua Community Foundation. A thank you was received for a donation to State Grange towards building upkeep.

Toys for Tots was selected for the Christmas project. Members are asked to bring a toy by the Nov. 23 meeting to be delivered on time.
