Thursday Proclaimed Local Bakery Day

“Keep your dough local,” is just one of the sayings you might hear Thursday on National Bakery Day.

The National Bakery Day is sponsored by the National Retail Bakers of America and is being supported locally at Ecklof Bakery, Tilaro’s Bakery and Farm Fresh Foods.

On Wednesday, four local bakers gathered at Ecklof Bakery to receive a proclamation from Sam Teresi, Jamestown mayor, who declared it Local Bakery Day in Jamestown Thursday.

“They’re the best smelling places in Jamestown,” Teresi said.

Farm Fresh Foods is located at 703 W. Third St., and according to their website – farmfresh716.com — people have been able to find top quality baked goods at the business since they opened their doors in 1999. Customers can place a catering order or stop by the business to pick up their bakery goods.

Ecklof Bakery is located at 832 Foote Ave., and has been serving the Jamestown community for more than 50 years. According to their Facebook page, Ecklof Bakery is dedicated to the time-honored traditions of scratch baking and focusing on quality products. Ask about their “Taste of Home” packages for shipping around the world.

Tilaro’s Bakery is located at 34 Willard St., and is a wholesale bakery.
