A line of storms that knocked down trees and power lines late Monday and early Tuesday have left several area residents without power, the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities said.
The BPU said power has been out in the village of Celoron in the areas of Jackson and Livingston avenues, as well as Fifth and Seventh streets. Customers in the Bonita area of Fluvanna and Elmwood in Falconer also lost power.
In West Ellicott, power has been out in the areas of Howard Avenue and Warwick and Elmwood avenues.
Meanwhile, in the city of Jamestown, electric outages were reported in the areas of Palmer, Norton and Pershing. Power has been restored to King, English and Tower streets.
The water pump station at English Hill was off due to the power outage and has caused some low water pressure and discolored water in that area, the BPU reported.
“Damage to electric lines seems to be caused by high wind conditions, trees and tree limbs on power lines,” the BPU said in a statement early Tuesday. “BPU crews are on the job working to restore electricity but no time estimate can be made at this time.”
The BPU said crews were still out working to restore power to customers.
