LANCASTER -- Everett Fix and Justin Teubner scored two rushing touchdowns apiece as top-seeded Lancaster broke open a tight game midway through the third quarter Friday night to post a 32-7 victory over turnover-plagued Jamestown in a Section VI Class AA semifinal football game at Foyle-Kling Field.
The win advances the top-seeded Legends (8-1) into the championship game at 8 p.m. next Friday against No. 2 Bennett -- a 14-12 winner over No. 3 Health Sciences in the other semifinal -- at the University at Buffalo's Broadview Stadium. Meanwhile, the fourth-seeded Red & Green, who fumbled four times and muffed a punt, finished the season 6-4.
Fix, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior quarterback, finished with 107 yards on the ground and TD runs of 7 and 8 yards, staking the Legends to a 13-0 halftime lead.
Jamestown recovered an onsides kick to open the third quarter and parlayed that into a fourth-down, 15-yard TD pass from junior quarterback Drew Bloomquist to sophomore running back Alaric Richards to close the deficit to 13-7.
The Red & Green's momentum was short-lived, however, as Lancaster needed seven plays to march 57 yards -- 30 on the ground by Fix -- for a touchdown, courtesy of Teubner's 3-yard run.
Armed with a 19-6 lead, the Legends were back in control.
Teubner added another 2-yard TD and Nick Pedersen bulled in from the 4 in the fourth quarter for the final points of the game.
NOTES: Junior Robbie Williams converted the point-after try following Jamestown's touchdown, capping a season in which he was successful on 21 of 23 PATs. In other year-end statistical categories, Richards rushed for more than 1,000 yards and scored 15 touchdowns; and senior linebacker Angel Martinez was credited with more than 100 tackles.
