ORCHARD PARK -- A doubles tiebreaker went Lewiston-Porter's way as the Lancers beat Falconer 3-2 to claim the Section VI Division 2 girls tennis team title Tuesday at Orchard Park High School.
Lewiston-Porter's Skylar Elliott and Kiersten Elliott won their first doubles match 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 with an 8-6 tiebreaker to lock up the Lancers' victory. The Golden Falcons' Jenna Bellinger and Lauren Whitmore led the tiebreaker as late as 6-5 before the Elliotts won the final three points.
At first singles, Falconer's Myla Brainard dropped her first set against Ellie Latorre 6-3, but won the second set 7-6 with a 7-3 tiebreaker, then won the third set 6-3.
At second singles, the Golden Falcons' Rachael Swanson won 7-5, 7-5.
But the Lancers won all three doubles matches.
In addition to the Elliotts' victory, Leah Chretien and Aliye Huzmeli won 6-1, 6-0, and Mazlynn Spence and Sophia Shaikh won 6-2, 6-3.
Lewiston-Porter will take on Section V's champion next month to decide the Far West Region's state representative.
