Cummins, Artone lead the Battle standings

After Wednesday's YMCA Battle of the Businesses events, Cummins (Large Division) with 1,075 points and Artone (Small Division) with 925 points are the leaders.

In the Small Division curling at Northwest Arena, New Flyer earned first place in the 34-19 final match against Children's Educational Services/Rehabilitation Specialists. Teammates included Pamela DeJesus, Randall Goodwill, Shane Higgs and Marty Richau.

Spectrum Eyecare earned third-place honors.

At Southern Tier Brewery's Brewers Hollow, Casey Hennessey and Elizabeth Smoczynski of Large Division Chautauqua County Government seized the first-place stones win over Frewsburg Central School (second place) and UPMC Chautauqua (third place).

In the Large Division cornhole competition, hosted by the Ruff Baggers at the Gold Star Building in Falconer, Kim Smith and Matt Strandburg of Cummins bagged the most points followed by SKF USA and The Resource Center.

Dan Dundar and Jason Pool of Artone captured top honors in the Small Division cornhole event. New Flyer and CES/Rehab followed in second and third place respectively.

The Battle of the Businesses continues this evening with all divisions competing at the Lakewood Family YMCA for the Texas Hold'em Tournament (6 p.m. in the family lounge), pickleball tournament (6 p.m. on the tennis courts) and Pictionary (6 p.m. Small Division/7 p.m. Large Division in the soccer arena).

Company's non-perishable donations for the Charity Food Fight bonus event to support the YMCA's food pantry can be dropped off at the Fluvanna Church from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, or Saturday by noon at the YMCA van located by the Richard O. Hartley Park beach restrooms.

Participants are reminded to wear their team Battle shirts and check the schedule for the exact time of their competitions.
