Cummins, Artone lead Battle of the Businesses after Sunday events

Large Division competitor Cummins (555 points) and Small Division victor Artone (370 points) led the 38th Annual YMCA Battle of the Businesses after Sunday's events.

For the Large Division, the following are the first-place Sunday event finishers: men's nine-hole golf (Frewsburg), women's nine-hole golf (Frewsburg), men's bowling (SKF USA) and women's bowling (Cummins).

At the Maplehurst Country Club in the golf event, the Frewsburg men's foursome finished first with a score of 30, while Cummins and UPMC Chautauqua ended the day in second and third place, respectively.

The women's Frewsburg squad seized the 100-point golf win with a score of 38 with UPMC Chautauqua and The Resource Center scoring the next 95 and 90 points for their teams.

At Frewsburg Lanes, Ryan Colburn, Brandon Miller, Brent Miller and John Williams, Jr. of SKF USA controlled the lanes with a final pin count of 1,566. The Resource Center and UPMC Chautauqua took home the second- and third-place honors.

The Cummins foursome of Kim Johnson, Jen Haskins, Nichol Haskins and Steph Tompkins bowled to victory with a final score of 1,053 to earn the Large Division women's bowling win. Second and third place went to UPMC Chautauqua and Frewsburg Central School, respectively.

In the Small Division, Artone took both victories in the golf and bowling tournaments.

Artone's Mason Burch, Madison Clapper, Jim Lundsten and Dave O'Dell shot a 32 in the golf event followed by Jamestown Bar Association/City Court and New Flyer.

Jason Pool, Rich Pfeiffer, Frank Swanson and Joe Triscari of Artone rolled a 1,149 series for first-place bowling honors, followed by Children's Educational Services/Rehabilitation Specialists and New Flyer.

Today’s events include Large Division volleyball at the Jamestown YMCA at 6 p.m., Small Division stones at Southern Tier Brewery's Brewers Hollow at 5 p.m. and Mulligan's Showdown at Mulligan's Golf & Fun Center at 6 p.m. (Large Division) and 7:30 p.m. (Small Division). Participants are reminded to wear their team t-shirts and take photos of each event participants for press releases and team awards.

The Battle of the Businesses would like to thank venues at Bergman Park, Jones Park, Frewsburg Lanes, JCC YMCA Wellness Center (JAY), Jamestown YMCA, Northwest Arena, Maplehurst Country Club, Southern Tier Brewery Company's Brewers Hollow, Gold Star Building, Mulligan's Golf & Fun Center, Wicked Warrens-Jamestown, Haggy's Hatchet House, Lakewood YMCA and Hartley Park.
