Cummins, Artone lead after Monday’s Battle events

In Monday's YMCA Battle of the Businesses' action, teams competed in the volleyball, curling and the 200-yard freestyle swim events.

In Small Division volleyball at the Jamestown YMCA, Artone defeated Children's Educational Services/Rehabilitation Specialists while Spectrum Eyecare went home in third place.

Jim Lundsten, Nino Sanabria, Todd Newbree, Mark Miceli, Jason Pool, Brandon Troutman, John Jimerson, Laura Snow, Blaire Feichter, Amy Hook and Madison Clapper comprised the winning Artone squad.

The SKF's foursome of Sheldon Battle, Dan Dalrymple, Joe Sienicki and Jason Vasquez claimed the first-place curling spot for the Large Division at the Northwest Arena. They beat second-place finisher Cummins 15-9. The Resource Center took third place.

In the Small Division 200-yard freestyle swim event at the Jamestown Community College/YMCA pool, Colin Duffy of Artone completed four laps of the pool in the fastest time of 3:10.16. Anna Wohlgemuth of Spectrum Eyecare and Randy Elf of Jamestown Bar Association/City Court scored second and third place, respectively.

Kiah Nelson of UPMC Chautauqua swam a 2:31.76, seizing the top victory in the Large Division while Clay Manwaring of Chautauqua County Government and Jen Herron of The Resource Center followed.

Cummins (725 points) and Artone (570 points) remain the Battle leaders in the Large Division and Small Division, respectively.

Today's Battle event is the Small Division curling competition at the Northwest Arena at 6 p.m.; Large Division stones at the Southern Tier Brewery's at Brewers Hollow at 5 p.m; and cornhole (both divisions) at the Gold Star Building at 1765 Lindquist Drive in Falconer at 6 p.m.
