Cummins, Artone are Battle champs

Cummins (1,842 points) won the Large Division title while new competitor Artone (1,709 points) placed first in the Small Division in the 38th annual YMCA Battle of the Businesses. The two champion trophy cups were given to both teams at the Richard O. Hartley Park in Lakewood this past Saturday.
Seven events were held Saturday for the final day of competition.
In the 2-Mile Run/Walk, Chautauqua County Government (Larry Petry, Clay Manwaring, Kim LaTone with teammates)and Artone (Brandon Troutman, Amy Hook, John Jimerson with teammates) took first in the Large Division and Small Division, respectively.
In the Inflatable Costume Race, SKF USA (Leo Sokolski) and Spectrum Eyecare (Nick Erickson) were the winners.
In the Sur"Y"vor Challenge, The Resource Center (Jennifer Knight, Angel Rodriguez, Claribel Castoire and Jack White) and Children’s Educational Services/Rehabilitation Specialists (Kristy Durstine, Brady Collver, Stefanie Best and Laura Sard) took home victories.
In the Tug-a-War, SKF USA (Ben Clark, Alex Tegel, Jason Rupczyk, Matt Tinstman and Sheldon Battle) and Artone (Richard Pfeiffer, Joe Estes, Jason Pool, Mark Michelin and Todd Newbree) claimed titles
In the Hippo Chow Down, UPMC Chautauqua (Emily Johnson and Lauren Lapinski) and New Flyer (Chris Moynihan and Ashley Moynihan) were the winners.
In Musical Chairs Revamped, Cummins (Marx Bertrand and Roshini Yuvarajan) and Artone (Maddie Clapper and Charles Wofford) were victorious.
In the Charity Food Fight, Chautauqua County Government and Artone were the winners.
A total of 2,764 individual nonperishable food donations were given to the new YMCA Food Pantry during the Charity Food Fight.
"Thank you to all the Battle teams for joining the YMCA in supporting such an amazing cause," said Kelsey Woodard, YMCA food service manager. "I am incredibly grateful that we can come together as a community to give back and make a meaningful difference."
In the
Large Division, UPMC Chautauqua was given the YMCA Battle Team Spirit Award and Heather Courtney of The Resource Center was honored with the Battle Team Captain Award.
In the Small Division, newcomer Artone received the YMCA Battle Spirit Award and Jen Anderson of CES/Rehab earned the Battle Team Captain Award.
The Battle was sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Eventz by Scott.
Teams that still need to pick up their Battle first-place event plaques can visit the Lakewood YMCA during operational hours.
