Hawaii completes pool play 4-0

Mililani, Hawaii, completed a perfect 4-0 run through pool play with a 13-3 six-inning, mercy-rule victory over Westfield, Massachusetts, in Game 21 of the Babe Ruth 13-year-old World Series on Thursday morning at Diethrick Park.

The Pacific Southwest Region champions earned the No. 1 seed in the American Division and the bye into Friday's 4:30 p.m. semifinal. Massachusetts, the New England Region runnerup, ended the tournament with a 1-3 record.

Hawaii jumped on top early with a four-run first inning and a six-run third.

Ron Tellefsen Player of the Game Justice Gabrillo, Logan Kawakami, Shiloh Irvine and Isaac Saoit all had singles during the first.

In the third, Ezra Pule-Nicholas and Gabrillo each had a single while Saoit, Angelo Pabalon and Bailey Irvine each walked and scored a run.

Hawaii scored twice in the fourth without the benefit of a hit before Kawakami scored the 13th run after walking in the fifth.

Brady Panis, who singled and scored in the second inning, was the Ron Tellefsen Player of the Game for Massachusetts.

Saoit, Gabrillo, Pabalan and Shiloh Irvine combined on a four-hitter with five strikeouts while walking five for Hawaii.
