Valley falls to Fredonia in 8-10 final

BEMUS POINT -- Jacob Barter threw a complete-game four-hitter and William Galvez hit a bases-clearing three-run triple during a seven-run third inning as Fredonia beat Valley 7-5 to claim the District 38 8-10 Little League All-Star tournament title Wednesday at Ellery Town Park.
Bryce Potter went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored while Barter and Jack Rudyk added singles for Fredonia.
It's the first 8-10 title since 2023 and fourth since 2013 for Fredonia, which went 4-0 in pool play before beating Frewsburg in the semifinals last week.
Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Cullen Webster reached on an error, stole second, went to third on Greyson Smith's flyout to right field and scored on a passed ball.
But Fredonia sent 13 batters to the plate in the third inning, scoring seven runs on two hits, three hit batters and two walks. Jackson Phillips was hit by a pitch to open the frame and went to second on a passed ball before a strikeout for the first out. After Chuckie Aldrich walked, Parker Gustafson laid down a sacrifice bunt and reached on an error to load the bases. Barter then hit an RBI groundball that turned into an error and Potter hit an RBI infield single. After Rudyk reached on an error to load the bases again, Galvez hit a three-run triple to center field before scoring on a passed ball.
Valley got two runs back in the fourth inning. Jack Lerow reached on a one-out single and Webster followed with an RBI double before an error allowed him to score the third run.
Valley made it 7-4 in the sixth inning when Easton Johnson was hit by a pitch to open the inning and eventually scored when Cory Hunt reached on a two-out error.
In the top of the sixth, Lerow hit a one-out triple and Webster followed with an RBI triple to make it 7-5. But Barter struck out the final two batters of the game to finish his complete game with his fifth and sixth strikeouts.
Smith and Dawson Press combined for eight strikeouts in a five-hitter on the mound for Valley.
